Do worm bins smell? No! A properly maintained vermicompost system is completely odor-free—it should smell like fresh forest soil. Odors indicate problems (too wet, overfed, or anaerobic conditions), which we teach you to prevent and fix.

Can I keep worms indoors year-round? Absolutely! I run my commercial flow-through operation in my garage in Maine through harsh winters. Worms thrive at room temperature (55-77°F), and indoor systems give you complete climate control and year-round production.

What kind of worms do I need? Red wigglers (Eisenia fetida) are the standard composting worm. We cover why they're ideal, where to source them, and how to maintain healthy populations in indoor systems.

How much space do I need? A small countertop bin (2'x1'x1') works for a single person's kitchen scraps. My commercial flow-through system fits in a standard garage. We provide designs for every scale from tiny apartment bins to commercial operations.
